Rayburn Country Club Transforming to Family-friendly Resort

Activities, entertainment and lodging options expected to attract returning guests and new visitors from all over.

BROOKELAND, TX – After closing its doors earlier this year, the beloved country club on Lake Sam Rayburn is back, and the new owners are introducing some exciting new attractions along with familiar favorites.

The entire lodge – nice accommodations even before the recent changes – has been freshened up, including new paint and some complete remodels. The golf course, pro shop and pool are already open, but there are much bigger plans for the immediate future.

The property will now be known as Rayburn Resort, and it will feature resort-style amenities, such as a lazy river, spa, outfitter services, multiple restaurants, a hike and bike trail, and more.

The nearly 400-acre property is being reimagined. The main building will be a multi-purpose facility, featuring a generous central welcome area.

New dining options will include a casual restaurant named Sammy Ray’s, a pizza concept called Cheesy’s, as well as the Black Gold Coffee Shop.

For adults, there will be a new bar, and casual patio spaces will meander around the main building emphasizing the concept of something for everyone.

Rayburn Resort is following an aggressive, transformative timeline while re-opening the golf course and continuing to manage the pool.

Having a family-friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy, along with “a something-for-everyone approach,” is the goal.

At the heart of it all will be a focus on the natural beauty. Rayburn Resort sits in the rolling, heavily forested hills that surround Lake Sam Rayburn nestled between the Sabine and Angelina National Forests – National Forests that include access to the Sabine, Angelina and Neches Rivers.

The economic impact of these improvements relates to the concept for the original Rayburn Country Resort built in 1968 as a cornerstone to help the region grow and to capitalize on the completion of the 115,000-acre Sam Rayburn Reservoir – the largest man-made lake in Texas.

Fast forward fifty-two years to what has changed and what remains largely the same: Lake Sam Rayburn has achieved pre-eminence as consistently one of the top 10 bass-fishing destinations in the U.S., the population of Texas has more than doubled, travel corridors from urban center are vastly improved – the laid-back nature of the region remains as does the relatively low price of real estate being among the lowest in Texas!

Rayburn Resort is now booking events for 2021 including weddings, parties, reunions, retreats, business meetings, golf and fishing tournaments. The Resort offers a number of employment opportunities. Home sites are also included in the transformation and growth at the southend of Lake Sam Rayburn.
